You Can Make It! Monday! The Diaper Fold

Today's "You can make it!" is the Diaper Fold.   This is a cute and easy way to present a small gift to a friend or loved one, or even your kids (if you have them) class mates!

You can do this with 12 x 12 paper, 6 x 6 paper or any paper with the same dimensions.

Scallop Note Cards

Here are some fun note cards I did over the weekend.  Enjoy!

These note cards can be found on page 157 of the Spring/Summer Idea Book and Catalog.  Their dimensions are 4" x 2-3/4"  They come in three colors.  Pink Pirouette, Baja Breeze, & Chocolate Chip.  Envelope is 4 1/4 x 3 ".  U.S. Postal Service will not process or deliver this size card but they are perfect to put a gift card in, or just to send in a lunch bag to a loved one, or even a gift tag.  Enjoy!   Let me know what you think!  Which is your favorite?

 

This note card uses the Square Scallop Punch, White Taffeta Ribbon, Versa Mark Ink, the Refuge and Strength Stamp Set, Baha Breeze scallop Note, the NEW eyelet border punch, (walk in the park Designer Series Paper), Thoughts and Prayers Stamp Set.

1st Class Creativity Presents - Sizzix Saturday

 Today I'm spotlighing some of the fun items I made this past week for my hostesses. 

  This "Jewelry Chest" was made with the Matchbox Die in the Sizzix Machine.  I used Rhinestone Brads as the knobs.

From left to right, the item on the left is made from the Sizzix Scallop Die, the middle item is the matchbox die available through the Occasions Mini Catalog.  Those two items were made with the Sizzix Big Shot.  The last item on the right is a diaper fold made from designer series paper.  How fun!

1st Class Creativity Presents - Tutorial Thursday

Today's Tutorial is about Using the Aquapainter with Classic Ink Pads for watercoloring.

There are two ways to pick up in from the Classic Ink. 

One way is to make an ink well in the cover by squeezing the lid into the ink while still closed.  Then open the lid and you will see a little ink well.  This is what it will look like:

Or, you can get the ink directly from the ink pad like so:

 

To change colors all you have to do is move your aquapainter across your paper till it runs clear and then you can move to the next color:

 

Then you can continue to paint your picture! 

  

BIG TIP if your aquapainter seems to be leaving a bunch of water then I recommend that you dry your aquapaint off on the paper a bit before picking up new color.  You will know it it's leaving water when it bunchs in a puddle on your picture.  If this should happen DON'T PANIC!  Take a papertowel or kleenex and put just the edge of the paper into the puddle and it will soak up the extra water.  This works 99% of the time.  If you have any questions, just ask and I'll get back to you!

This is one of my favorite tools and I have outlined the benefits and features below.

You will want to use this great tool to create a perfect torn edge every time!   Hold The Tearing Edge firmly in place against card stock, paper, or vellum, and tear slowly. This tool has two different edges to choose from, your tears won’t always look the same. This is a wonderful way to add a polished, decorative touch to your work. 

You can use the tearing edge with Card stock, Designer Series Paper and Vellum.  When you tear vellum by hand, you get a straight edge.   Use the Tearing Edge to get a torn look with vellum.  

Use along with grid paper to achieve a perfectly straight torn edge.
