Merry Christmas!   We at 1st Class Creativity wish you a Very Merry Christmas!

Thank you for stopping by today!

We wanted to celebrate Christmas with you with this gorgeous card we created using  gold leaf and Dreamweaver Stencils and Stencil embossing paste especially for the Dazzling Divas Challenge #5 over at Add A Little Dazzle.   I loved the gold metallic tones in the inspiration photo and just had to enter this card.

  Merry Christmas

Imagine using this technique on all your Fancy Cards!  The technique is really pretty simple and I'd like to share some tips with you on working with stencils, stencil embossing paste and gold leaf.

  • Be sure to adhere your stencil to the piece of paper you will be adding the image to with removable tape (scotch tape is fine as long as it won't rip the paper when you remove the tape)
  • When applying your stencil paste move your spreader in one direction.   It's tempting to want to use the pallet knife like your spreading icing, don't use one direction only.
  • Keep stencil flat.   Stencils can bend easy and if they do you won't get a good image so take care when cleaning and handling stencils so you don't bend them.
  • Clean up – A soft bristle brush and a flat surface to clean the stencil and knife is important to keep tools clean and to help lessen the chance of the stencil bending.
  • To apply gold leaf –
    • Allow stencil paste on image to dry completely.
      • if you have a griddle you can set it on warm to get it to dry a bit quicker. *take care so fire doesn't start, do not leave unattended.  Use caution, and keep away from children.  1st Class Creativity accepts no responsibility for fire or any other damages if you use this tip.
    • After image is dry apply put stencil on top of dried image.  Using sponge dauber dab glue to the image.  I used the Essential Glue Pad (no heat required) Remove Stencil.
    • Next Apply Gold Leaf and rub with finger, let it set about 1 minute or so.
    • Use stipple brush to wipe away the gold leaf from around the image.
