Texturize your scrapbooking is a technique that is easily used and brings a unique and fun dimension to your scrapbooking pages. Let's begin!  Please keep in mind most if not all of the supplies are retired, however you can use existing items in your craft space and substitute.  I'll also leave some suggestions at the end of the tutorial.

Zoo scrapbook technique
Adding texture to your scrapbook page is easy using the Big Shot and texturz plates. By adding ink to the texturz plate, you can easily create different patterns, like the imitation “giraffe hide” on this page and “zebra” print letters. The ink easily wipes off the texturz plates using some Stampin’ Mist (102394) and a paper towel. Ready again to be inked with a different color or to be used to add a subtle pattern direct to paper.

Here is how you do it!

  • Stamps: Animal Stories (116716), Sweet Shoppe Alphabet Lower (120272), Right on Track (113838)
  • Ink: Early Espresso Classic Ink (119670), More Mustard (103612), Cajun Craze (119671), Basic Black Standard Inked Cartridge (104581), Basic Black Classic Ink ( 101179), White Craft Ink (101731)
  • Paper: More Mustard (100946), Very Vanilla (101650), Soft Suede (115318), Woodland Walk DSP (117389), So Saffron cardstock (105118)
  • Accessories:
    • SNAIL adhesive (104332),
    • Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430),
    • Anywhere Glue Stick (104045),
    • Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine (113439),
    • Big Shot Embossing Mats (146327)
    • Brayer (102395),
    • Hemp Twine (100982),
    • On Board Alphabet Soup (119239),
    • Stampin’ Around Handle (102971),
    • Hemp Twine (1009892),
    • Vintage Trinkets (118764)

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Apply Early Espresso Ink to the “Weave” texture plate with the brayer. Place a piece of 6 ¾” x 5 ¾” More Mustard cardstock onto texture plate, layered with the Texturz Silicone Rubber and Impressions Pad and run through Big Shot. Clean texture plate with Stampin’ Mist and paper towel.
  2.  Add vintage brads and hemp twine to make a frame on the More Mustard cardstock and adhere to 8”x8” Soft Suede cardstock.
  3. Ink chipboard letters with white craft ink. Heat the letters with the heat tool to dry the ink. Brayer black ink onto “Distressed” texture plate (back of “Weave” plate) and place letters on plate, then run through the Big Shot to add “zebra” print.
  4. Add page boarder using the Right on Track wheel, handle and basic black ink cartridge to bottom of page.
  5. Stamp the animals from the Animal Stories stamp set onto Very Vanilla cardstock. Cut out. Apply to page with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  6. Stamp the word “fari” with the Sweet Shoppe Alphabet Lower stamp set onto So Saffron cardstock flag. Wrap flag around the letter “O” and adhere letters to page with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
